Who we are At CTA (Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation), our goal is to advance food security, prosperity and sound natural resource management in Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific. Our mandate is to improve access to information, facilitate knowledge sharing and strengthen the information and communication management (ICM) capacity of ACP organizations, with the aim of empowering communities. We work in the field of agricultural and rural development and related areas such as commodity trade and science and technology. CTA is a joint institution operating under the framework of the Cotonou Agreement between the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group of States and the European Union (EU). CTA is funded by the EU. What we do Working in close collaboration with our network, we are able to reach some of the 500 million people living in rural areas in the ACP countries. We support the agricultural and rural development community, from the small farmer to the extension agent; and from the scientist to the policy maker. We do this through sharing knowledge, providing opportunities for networking and building capacity. Our partners play a huge role in helping us achieve this. They include ACP national and regional organizations, EU institutions and international organizations. We also work with them to strengthen their policy capacity.
